About The Mighty Platypi

The Mighty Platypi club was started in 2007 by Andrew Young and Star Maddox, along with the help of several other families.

This club teaches the Little Stars and Starflight curricula, which cover kids from 3 years old through the 2nd grade.

In the Little Stars (Pre-K) and Starflight (K-2) levels the kids learn responsibility, decision-making and other valuable skills through a variety of projects centered on five trails. The projects focus on topics such as family, nature and the outdoors, safety, science, health, community service, art, music and drama. The kids learn while working together and having fun and all projects are designed to fit the abilities and interests of their age level. Recognition is an important component of the Little Stars and Starflight programs, and the kids receive emblems after completing a project.

The Mighty Platypi group is very outdoor oriented and despite the young age of the children in the group they manage to go camping four times a year. Due to the age of the children, parents and siblings always accompany the club members to events and campouts, and this has allowed the various families in the group to become like one large extended family. New families are always welcome, so please come check us out!

We meet almost every Saturday in room 17 from 10am to 11am, with a parents meeting taking place at the same time. Check out the calendar for specific meeting topics, hike, campouts, and weekends when we aren’t having meetings. If you have questions about the group, feel free to contact Andrew Young.
