Outdoor Education

At a time when concern for our natural environment has never been higher, many children live in metropolitan areas where it can be hard to experience the natural world for themselves. Camp Fire offers these children an opportunity to take an active role in the outdoors through camping, hiking, paddling, and just spending time outside in nature away from the noise of the city. Listening to teachers and parents talk about the importance of the natural world can’t compare to actually experiencing it. Camp Fire believes in the power of nature to awaken a child’s senses, curiosity and desire to learn.

The clubs that meet at First Unitarian Universalist Church of Austin go camping often, and there are paddle, hiking, and backpacking programs available to family members of all ages.
